Why teams move from JumpCloud to Purple

JumpCloud offers cloud RADIUS as a module within its directory platform.

Purple is a dedicated WiFi platform with RADIUS-as-a-Service, so guest, staff and multi-tenant WiFi live in one place.

JumpCloud RADIUS supports EAP-TLS with bring-your-own certificates.

Purple runs passwordless WPA2/3-Enterprise with managed certificates, so there is no PKI for your team to run.

JumpCloud authenticates staff against its own directory.

Purple syncs with JumpCloud, Entra ID, Okta or Google Workspace and adds guest WiFi and a branded captive portal on top.

JumpCloud reports on directory auth events and device telemetry.

Purple adds footfall, dwell and repeat-visit analytics, so the venue sees visitor behaviour as well as auth.

JumpCloud is built to unify back-office IT.

Purple is built for WiFi at venue scale - guest, staff and multi-tenant networks on the hardware you already own.

Built for IT, security and the whole venue

Purple gives IT and security teams secure staff WiFi and gives the venue guest WiFi, analytics and marketing, all on one platform and on the access points you already own.

Frequently asked

Can Purple RADIUS use JumpCloud as the directory?

Yes. JumpCloud is a supported identity provider - Purple RADIUS-as-a-Service authenticates users against JumpCloud via LDAPS or SAML. This is a common pattern for teams that keep the JumpCloud directory but want a dedicated WiFi platform for staff and guest use cases.

What does Purple add beyond cloud RADIUS?

Branded guest WiFi and a captive portal, footfall and dwell analytics, WiFi marketing, and multi-tenant iPSK networks, none of which are in JumpCloud RADIUS product scope. Purple is a dedicated WiFi platform rather than a directory module.

Does Purple need managed PKI to run?

No. Purple provides managed certificates tied to RADIUS-as-a-Service, so passwordless WPA2/3-Enterprise runs without a PKI for your team to operate. JumpCloud RADIUS uses bring-your-own certificates, with managed PKI on its roadmap.

Can we migrate from JumpCloud RADIUS to Purple?

Yes, and it is straightforward - the RADIUS protocol is identical, so the access points barely notice. Add Purple as a secondary RADIUS target, let it accumulate traffic, then remove JumpCloud from the AP config once validated.
