BYOD WiFi guides
How to let people bring their own devices without handing out the network password.
In short
BYOD WiFi means letting staff or students connect their own phones and laptops without handing over a shared password or losing control of the network. The usual answer is self-service onboarding: the user signs in once, receives a certificate or a personal key, and the device lands on its own network segment.

Frequently asked questions
What is SCEP and why does BYOD need it?
SCEP is a certificate protocol that lets a device request its own certificate automatically. It is how personal devices get an EAP-TLS certificate without IT touching each one.
Certificates or per-user keys for personal devices?
Certificates with 802.1X give the strongest per-device identity. Per-user keys suit devices that cannot install a profile. Many networks run both on one estate.
How do you remove a lost or stolen device?
Revoke its certificate or key. Only that device loses access, and nobody else has to reconnect.
Should personal devices share a network with company devices?
Usually not. Put BYOD devices on their own VLAN with internet access and only the internal services they need.
