WiFi for conference and exhibition centres

Know every delegate who walked your halls, event by event

  • A branded sign-in for every event
  • 400+ CRM and marketing connectors
  • xPSK for registration and exhibitor kit

The gap

Your organisers own the delegate list. You own the building.

Registration data usually belongs to the organiser, so the venue that hosted thousands of people over a three-day show ends up knowing almost nothing about them. Meanwhile one open network serves a medical congress on Monday and a consumer expo on Saturday. That gap shows up in four places.

A typical venue today

  • Delegates connect anonymously and leave without the venue ever knowing who came
  • The same generic network name and splash page for every show in the calendar
  • Sponsors and exhibitors get a stand and a logo, with nothing on the screen in every visitor's hand
  • Registration kiosks, badge printers and stand builders' laptops sharing one password that never changes

With Purple

  • Every delegate who connects signs in with consent, and the record reaches your CRM tagged with the event
  • Each event gets its own network name and sign-in page in the organiser's colours, as NEC Group did
  • A sponsor's brand, question and offer on the first screen delegates see, with answers to show for it
  • Every device and every contractor gets their own key, which expires when the event does
One platform, four plays

Every delegate, organiser, exhibitor and device, each on the right network

Delegate data, per-event branding and sponsorship, a secure back-of-house network and automatic connection for returning visitors, run from one dashboard by the commercial and IT teams you already have.

Delegates

Turn a three-day show into delegate data you own

Delegates sign in with email or a social account in a few taps, on a page built for the event they are attending. Every sign-in carries UK GDPR consent and reaches your CRM through 400+ data connectors, including Salesforce, HubSpot and Braze, tagged with the event it came from. Your next on-sale goes to the people who care about that kind of show.

  • NEC Group ran a separate network name for every event and added a preference flag to each delegate's record
  • That gave NEC Group over 400,000 preference-tagged, opted-in records a year, valued at around £800k
  • The FIL Palacio de Minería book fair captured more than 10,300 new leads, mostly aged 18 to 24
  • 86% of visitors who reached the FIL sign-in completed it, 24% above the industry benchmark

Registration data belongs to the organiser. A record created when a delegate signs in to your WiFi, with your consent wording, belongs to the venue.

Organisers and sponsors

A different sign-in for every event in the calendar

A pharmaceutical congress, a wedding fair and a games expo should not share a welcome screen. Give each event its own network name and a sign-in page in the organiser's branding, add a sponsor's message and a question they want answered, then send delegates on to the event app or a partner's offer. Exhibitors and sponsors leave with answers and clicks, not an estimate of who walked past.

  • INBURSA used its sign-in survey at the Feria de Afore to collect 194 answers, a 96% response rate
  • FIL Palacio de Minería used its sign-in to promote the FIL app, with more than 9,300 views
  • Change the branding, sponsor, offer or question by event, with no change to the network
  • Branded captive portal with UK GDPR consent and a full audit trail behind every answer

Event operations

Your crew, contractors and kit, off the delegate network

Build-up and breakdown bring stand builders, AV crews, caterers and organisers' teams, plus registration kiosks, badge printers, card terminals and screens that cannot type a password. Your own staff sign in with their work account. Everything and everyone else gets a private key with its own VLAN, so a key that leaks affects one device, not the hall.

  • Time-limited keys for contractors and stand builders, with no MDM and nothing to install
  • Staff sign in with Microsoft Entra ID, Okta or Google Workspace, and leavers lose access automatically
  • Works under your vendor's name: iPSK on Cisco, DPSK on Ruckus, MPSK on HPE Aruba and Juniper Mist, PPSK on Extreme and UniFi
  • No per-device licence and no cap on devices per key, so a full build-up costs nothing extra

Returning delegates

Delegates who come back connect without a sign-in page

The busiest minutes of any show are the first ones, when thousands of delegates reach the doors at once. With Passpoint, a delegate who has added a profile through your event or venue app connects automatically and encrypted, before they reach the registration desk. Through OpenRoaming, visitors whose phones already carry an OpenRoaming profile can do the same.

  • Hotspot 2.0 profiles, encrypted from association, with no captive portal to load
  • Profiles are bound to identity, so they survive iOS 18 MAC address rotation
  • OpenRoaming reaches more than 5 million hotspots worldwide, with Purple as an Identity Provider for the Wireless Broadband Alliance
  • Runs alongside your branded sign-in for first-time delegates

Conference centre WiFi questions, answered

What venue commercial, events and IT teams ask us most

Do we need to replace our access points?

No. Purple runs on the access points you already own, including Cisco Meraki, HPE Aruba, Ruckus, Juniper Mist, Ubiquiti UniFi, Cambium, Extreme and Fortinet. There is no on-premise server to install.

Can every event have its own network name and sign-in page?

Yes. Each event can have its own network name, branding, sponsor and questions, and every record is tagged with the event it came from. NEC Group used this to build over 400,000 preference-tagged, opted-in records a year.

Will it cope with a full hall?

Capacity comes from your access points and how they are designed. Purple runs the sign-in, consent and data layer in the cloud on top of them, and Passpoint takes returning delegates off the sign-in page altogether at the busiest moments.

Who owns the delegate data, us or the organiser?

Records created when delegates sign in to your WiFi are collected under your consent wording, so they are yours. Because each one carries the event it came from, you can segment by event and share with an organiser where your consent wording allows.

How do exhibitors, contractors and event kit connect?

With xPSK. Registration kiosks, badge printers, card terminals and contractors' laptops each get their own key and VLAN, and keys can be set to expire when the event ends. Your own staff sign in with Microsoft Entra ID, Okta or Google Workspace.

Can we sell the sign-in page to sponsors?

Yes. A sponsor's brand, question and link can sit on the sign-in page for one event or a whole season. INBURSA used a sign-in survey at the Feria de Afore and got a 96% response rate.

Is delegate data secure and compliant?

Every sign-in carries UK GDPR consent with a full audit trail. Purple is ISO 27001 certified, has RADIUS regions in the UK, EU and US, and has had zero data breaches since 2012.
