Use cases

Primary care WiFi is a compliance product, not an amenity.

Patients expect free WiFi as a baseline. The practice manager has to deliver it without exposing PHI, breaching GDPR, or losing 5 minutes per child to 'is this site OK?' barista-style support calls. Purple gives you the WiFi customers want and the audit story your DPO needs.

01 — Pre-visit forms

The intake form fills itself before the dentist says hello.

Pre-visit medical-history forms on the patient's own device save 5-8 minutes per appointment. Purple's captive portal lands the patient on your Dentally / SystmOne / EMIS form the moment they join the SSID — branded, GDPR-compliant, and tied back to your booking system.

02 — PHI segmentation

Two networks, two VLANs, one auditor walking out happy.

The same access points that broadcast guest WiFi can isolate clinical devices on a dedicated VLAN — cone-beam CT scanners, Dentally / Cliniko sync, EHR uploads. Patients can't see clinical traffic. Clinical traffic can't be starved by a child's YouTube stream. The segmentation is documented, exportable, and auditor-ready.

03 — Kids content & dwell

Bored siblings happy. Parents grateful. Receptionist not the IT helpdesk.

Family appointments mean parent + 1-2 children in the waiting room for 20-45 minutes. Kids burn data on YouTube and TikTok, slow your clinical network, and parents complain when video stutters. Purple's kids-content lane runs a whitelisted profile so children's content streams smoothly, parents stay happy, and the receptionist isn't fielding 'is this site OK?' questions.

The primary-care number

Healthcare is the most expensive sector to breach. Don't be the practice that does.

Healthcare topped IBM's 2024 breach-cost report at $9.77M per breach — the 14th consecutive year leading every other industry. A guest network on the same VLAN as patient records is the cheapest way to become that statistic. Purple is the cheapest way not to.

Recall, hygiene reminder, family booking — captured in the chair's orbit.

The captive portal is the highest-trust opt-in moment a patient ever has with your practice. They're already in your building, they trust the brand, and they're motivated to give you their email. Purple turns that moment into your hygiene-recall opt-in, your family-booking nurture, and your practice newsletter — all consent-clean, all timestamped, all DPO-ready.

  • GDPR Article-7 consent log per opt-in, exportable on demand
  • Hygiene-recall and 6-month-check-up nurture sequences
  • Direct integrations with Dentally, Cliniko, SystmOne, EMIS
  • Runs on existing access points — Meraki, Aruba, Ubiquiti, Eero

The Purple App

Family check-in. Recall reminder. The form that filled itself.

A patient's phone associates with the practice WiFi the moment they walk in. Purple knows it's them, knows their next appointment, and knows whether the pre-visit form has been filled. Reception sees the patient checked in. The patient sees their form opened. Everyone saves five minutes.

Family appointment? Children join the kids-content lane automatically. Hygiene reminder due? It fires when the patient is *in the building*, not via an email a week earlier they'll never read. Practice ops without the receptionist ever picking up the phone.

Practice-awareRecognise patients on the practice WiFi and check them in without paper forms.
Family-awareChildren's devices auto-route to the kids-content lane the moment they join.

Analytics

The numbers your practice manager actually wants.

Footfall, dwell, recall conversion, no-show rate, family-appointment ratio — Purple turns waiting-room WiFi into the operational dashboard your practice manager opens every Monday morning.

01
No-show prediction

Patients whose pre-visit pattern has shifted are no-show risks. Surface them to reception for a confirmation call.

02
Recall conversion

Captive-portal recall opt-ins convert at 2× email rates. Measure each splash design and push the winner across the practice.

03
Dwell-time variance

Spot the days, the times, and the practitioners where dwell is creeping up — fix scheduling before patient satisfaction tanks.

FAQ

Common primary-care WiFi questions, answered.

Is Purple HIPAA / GDPR compliant?

Purple's data handling follows GDPR Article 6 and 7 lawful-basis and consent requirements, with full audit logging. For US practices, Purple operates as a Business Associate under HIPAA when required and signs BAAs. The platform's segmentation patterns are designed to keep patient PHI out of the guest-network plane entirely.

Do we need new access points?

No. Purple runs as a cloud overlay on Cisco Meraki, Aruba, Ubiquiti UniFi, Eero for Business, and Comcast Business hardware that's already in most practices. The captive portal, segmentation logic, and consent capture all happen at the cloud layer.

Can a single-site independent practice use Purple?

Yes. Purple has primary-care customers from single-chair dental practices to 1,000+ rooftop dental groups. The platform is the same — only the contract scale differs.

How does the kids content lane actually work?

It's a per-zone or per-MAC profile that whitelists a curated set of kids-content sites (CBeebies, PBS Kids, BBC Kids, etc.) and rate-limits everything else. Parents see no slowdown on their own stream. Children stream cleanly. The receptionist gets zero 'is this site OK?' interruptions.

What does an audit report actually contain?

A timestamped log of every consent, every segmentation policy in effect, the filtering policy applied per-zone, and an exception report covering any device or session that fell outside policy. Exportable as PDF or CSV. Designed for CQC, Joint Commission, ICO, and HHS OCR investigators.

Ready to make the waiting room earn its keep?

Speak to a primary-care specialist who's deployed Purple across single-chair practices, regional groups, and 1,000+ rooftop dental groups. We'll scope a single-practice pilot, prove the form-completion and consent-capture lift, and roll out from there.
